DEPRESSION
Sometimes the waters are dark
Depression is multifaceted and can be influenced by a variety of factors, both internal and external. In the realm of Western psychology, contributors to depression may include biological factors such as genetics and neurochemistry, environmental stressors, and life experiences. I strive to provide support and guidance while we explore these aspects in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner, helping clients uncover the root causes of their depression.

In addition to Western psychological approaches, I integrate insights from Eastern wisdom traditions to offer a holistic perspective on mental well-being. Eastern philosophies, such as mindfulness and meditation practices, emphasize the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. Incorporating these practices into therapy can provide valuable tools for managing depressive symptoms. Therapy modalities such as Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), for example, draw from both Western and Eastern principles to help individuals become more aware of their thoughts, emotions and physical sensations; supporting choice, and fostering a sense of balance and resilience. If necessary, we will consider medication management through a psychiatrist.

I am committed to tailoring my approach to each individual's unique needs, recognizing that the journey to overcoming depression is a personal and nuanced one. I aim to empower my clients to develop coping strategies, build resilience, and cultivate a deeper understanding of themselves. By fostering a collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationship, I strive to assist individuals on their path toward healing and emotional well-being. If you are seeking guidance in navigating the challenges of depression, I invite you to reach out and embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation.
